This
has helped us to engage with
driving instructors from all areas and take forward their concerns
and ideas to the DVA.
It
also encouraged new members to
join and our membership has increased.
Website:
We
set up a website: niadia.org for members
It
will offer members access to all the news.
It
will provide members with free advertising.
We
also set up an advertising website on which members can advertise
thier business and which will be optimised to enable the public to
find it and search for an instructor through it.
Logo:
We decided
to modernise our logo as shown below.
Constitution:
We
formed a sub committee to update
the association constitution.
Changes
have been made and a vote
will be taken on these tonight.
Meetings
with the DVA:
We
met with the new registrar Anne
McCabe and the Chief Executive Brendan Magee.
We
found them to be very receptive
to our concerns and ideas .
We
hope to continue our contact with
the DVA in the year to come.
Meeting
with the Minister:
In
October we met with the Minister of the
Environment, Ms Arlene Foster MLA.
Proposals
that were discussed included
the "R" plate scheme, changes to the current driving test,
compulsory pre test training and a graduated licence scheme.
We
hope to meet with the Minister at least
once a year.
The
future:
NIADIA
is recognised by the Government,
DVA, and DIA as a professional association who seek to address
professional issues as well as the wider issues such as road safety.
The
association will continue to work on
behalf of it's members and to enhance the good reputation of the
association and our profession at further meetings with the relevant
authorities.
What
you can do:
It
is essential that we continue to get
feedback from our members.
Please
contact us at any time.
Please
encourage other instructors
to become members.
Finally:
I'd
like to thank every single one of
our committee members.
Everyone
has worked hard for you
and this association.
